Horizon Studios CEO Janice Diner wrote the Facebook Social Commerce three page article that covers the basics and features innovative social commerce applications that demonstrate the begining of the opportunities for Facebook and commerce. The examples in the article are delivering real world measurable results. Included is Motorola Canada and the launch of a social commerce enabled platform called Motorola Insiders. As social commerce gets more momentum, we are seeing new innovative ways to integrate social into every aspect of the shopping process. Classic reward and loyalty programs are starting to move toward the integration of their loyalty card users' databases with users' Facebook data and beginning to leverage the Facebook friend social curve. Three recent Facebook examples are the Amex Link, Like, Love app, the Citibank ThankYou Points sharing app, and Starbucks Rewards.
With the launch of Facebook Platform for Mobile, shoppers can now access Facebook apps and games on a variety of mobile devices and tablets. Businesses, marketers, and developers can leverage a variety of social graph technology that will enable more meaningful engagement anywhere, anytime on multiple screens. This will have a large effect on the social shopping experience going forward.
We were all eyes and ears last week listening to Facebook's string of announcements at F8. Notably, Facebook announced a new profile design called Timeline, a Ticker, smarter friend lists, and other personal profile items. The good news for businesses, marketers, social commerce, and developers is a new class of applications called Lifestyle Apps for the Open Graph Beta.
